THE NSW Government will allow trained GPs to diagnose and treat ADHD, making access to care faster and more affordable. Currently reliant on costly specialists, patients often face long waits. Under the reforms, GPs can provide ongoing prescriptions for stable cases, and selected GPs will diagnose and initiate treatment. NSW Health will fund training and support for up to 1000 GPs. Reforms begin with children in 2026, aiming to reduce developmental delays and improve outcomes. NSW follows similar moves in QLD and WA.
