RSL BREWERY WINS TOP AWARDS

Tribute brew a hit with judges
CENTRAL Coast-based Oak Haven Brewery has earned national recognition after its Dr Paul’s Pils was awarded a Gold Medal at the 2026 Australian International Beer Awards.

The awards is one of the world’s most prestigious brewing competitions and attracted more than 2,200 entries from 381 breweries across 22 countries, making the achievement a significant milestone for the West Gosford brewery.

Brewed on site at Gosford RSL, Dr Paul’s Pils was judged among the best beers in Australia and internationally.

The Bohemian-style pilsner, with a modest 3.5 per cent alcohol content, is known for its light, clean and refreshing character, balanced by a smooth malt profile.

The latest accolade marks the beer’s second Gold Medal and adds to an impressive collection of seven awards since 2022, including multiple Silver and Bronze medals.

Oak Haven Brewery focuses on producing quality craft beers exclusively for Gosford RSL members and visitors rather than large-scale distribution, ensuring fresh, locally brewed products for the community.

The beer also honours local history, taking its name from Dr James Paul, a former owner of the land on which Gosford RSL now stands.

Dr Paul was known for advocating the wellbeing of returned servicemen and opposing the sale of intoxicating liquor on the property.

Today, the brewery’s lower-alcohol pilsner serves as a fitting tribute to his legacy while offering a modern, award-winning drinking experience.
